Five Days. One Band of New Musicians.
Six weeks to choose from, June and July — half-day and full-day options.
Some campers arrive having played for years. Others are just starting out. By Friday, they are all on the same stage, performing music they helped create. That is what a week at K&M Music Company’s summer camp does.
Mornings are built around real playing: small-group instrument lessons, theory that feels like a game rather than a worksheet, songwriting, and daily group rehearsal. Our instructors are working musicians and career teachers who know how to keep a room of kids engaged — and how to get a nervous beginner comfortable enough to perform by the end of the week.
Choose Your Week — Summer 2027
Each week runs Monday through Friday and finishes with a Friday performance. Families are welcome to book more than one week.

A Day at Camp
Every day follows the same rhythm, so campers know exactly what to expect by day two.
Arrival & Warm-Up
Campers settle in, greet their group, and start the morning with rhythm and listening warm-ups.
Instrument Lessons
Small groups of no more than five, split by instrument and level. Beginners start from the very first note; returning students pick up where their playing left off.
Break & Snack
Time to refuel and be a kid. Campers bring their own snack and water bottle.
Theory, Rhythm & Songwriting
How music actually works — reading notes, feeling rhythm, building chords, and turning those pieces into an original song of their own.
Half-Day Campers Head Home
Half-day campers are picked up at noon. Full-day campers stay for lunch and the afternoon program.
Lunch
A supervised break to eat and recharge. Full-day campers bring their own lunch.
Group Rehearsal & Singing
Everyone plays and sings together, building toward Friday’s performance. This is the hour campers talk about at dinner.
Jam Session & Wrap-Up
Open creative time to improvise, trade ideas, and try out what was written that morning — then pick-up at 2:00 PM.
What Campers Do All Week
Play an Instrument
Focused small-group instruction on piano, violin, flute, guitar, ukulele, or voice, matched to each camper’s starting level.
Write a Song
Melody, lyrics, and chords — campers write original music alone or with a partner, and perform it on Friday.
Sing Together
Daily group singing builds ear, blend, and the confidence that comes from being part of something bigger.
Jam & Improvise
Open creative sessions where campers experiment, trade ideas, and discover they can make music up on the spot.
Perform on Friday
A friendly end-of-week recital for family and friends — low pressure, big smiles, real applause.
Make Friends
Small groups and shared performance turn strangers into a band by Wednesday. Many campers return together the next year.

What if my child has never played an instrument?
That is exactly who this camp is built for. Groups are formed by age and experience, and instructors adapt each lesson to the campers in front of them. Complete beginners perform on Friday alongside everyone else.
Which instruments can my child choose?
Piano, violin, flute, guitar, ukulele, and voice. Let us know your child’s choice when you register so we can build the groups.
Do you provide instruments?
No — campers bring their own instrument, tuned and ready for the week. The two exceptions are piano campers, who use our studio pianos, and voice campers, who need nothing at all. If you do not own an instrument yet, ask us about renting one before camp begins.
What is the difference between half day and full day?
Both share the same morning: instrument lessons, theory, rhythm, and songwriting. Full-day campers stay through lunch for extended group rehearsal, singing, and creative jam sessions, finishing at 2:00 PM.
Can my child attend more than one week?
Yes. Many families book two or more weeks, and returning campers keep building on what they started. Let us know which weeks you would like when you register.
How large are the groups?
Small on purpose: up to 10 campers per room and no more than 5 per instrument group, so every child gets real attention each day.
Is there a performance at the end?
Yes. Friday closes with a mini-recital for family and friends — supportive, informal, and often the highlight of the week.
What ages is camp for?
Ages 8 to 16, grouped by age and experience level.
How do I register?
Email info@kandmmusicco.com or call (858) 588-3938. Spots are limited and fill in order of registration.
What is the refund and cancellation policy?
A $100 deposit per camper is due at registration and holds the spot. The deposit is non-refundable, but it is fully transferable to another camp week in the same summer if you let us know at least 14 days before your week begins.
Cancel more than 30 days before your camp week and the balance beyond the deposit is refunded in full. Cancel 14 to 30 days before and we refund 50% of the balance. Within 14 days of the start of camp, tuition is non-refundable, since staffing and group placement are already set — though we will do our best to move your camper to another available week.
Missed days during camp week cannot be refunded or made up. If K&M cancels a camp week for any reason, you receive a full refund including the deposit.
Save Your Camper’s Spot
With five campers per instrument group, spaces go quickly. Email or call, tell us which week you would like, and we will walk you through the next step.
